Pacquiao wants drug test for Rios bout

ABS-CBNnews.com Posted at 05/11/2013 8:32 PM | Updated as of 05/11/2013 8:33 PM MANILA, Philippines Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has requested a random drug testing for his upcoming fight against Mexican brawler Brandon Bam Bam Rios, according to his adviser Michael Koncz. In a RingTV report by Lem Satterfield, Koncz said the drug test will be done by either the United State Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) or The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) ahead of their bout in Macau on November 23. "The fact is that Manny has requested random drug testing for this fight. We still haven't decided which entity we'll use," said Koncz. In his most recent fight, Pacquiao lost by sixth-round knockout to Juan Manuel Marquez. It was Pacquiaos first knockout defeat since he lost to Rustico Torrecampo in 1996, leading to speculations that Marquez may have benefitted from performance enhancing drugs. Marquez denied the accusations. The Filipino boxer reportedly now wanted to make sure that both he and Rios will be drug free for their November fight. "There will be drug testing," said boxing promoter Bob Arum. "I don't know necessarily if I will want to use USADA. I might want to use VADA, but there will definitely be drug testing."
