INTRODUCTION
A heat exchanger is a device such as an automobile radiator, used to transfer heat from a fluid on one side of a barrier to a fluid on the other side without bringing. In a heat exchanger material that has to be cooled rapidly is placed in a pipe next to a pipe that has cooled material in it and the temperature diffuses until they both reach an equal temperature.

In our project, we will be designing and fabricating transfer in heat exchanger and will do its analysis with LMTD and NTU method and will also calculate the effectiveness of the heat exchanger which will show how effective is it in transferring the heat from hotter to cooler liquid..

METHODS USED FOR CALCULATING HEAT TRANSFER RATE

LMTD METHOD LMTD is used to determine the temperature driving force for heat transfer in flow system, most notably in heat exchanger. The LMTD is a logarithmic average of the temperature difference between the hot and cold stream at each end of the exchanger. The larger the LMTD the more is the heat transferred. The use of the LMTD arises straight forwardly from the analysis of a heat exchanger with constant flow rate and fluid properties.

NTU METHOD
The number of transfer unit method is used to calculate the rate of heat transfer in heat exchanger when the outlet temperatures are not known. So when the fluid inlet and outlet temperature are not specified then this NTU method is used. NTU(Number of transfer units) is a dimensionless parameter which tells how quickly a heat exchanger reaches its thermodynamic properties.
