The NSA is recording your digital activities, even ones you believe to be private.

But I have nothing to hide!


Me neither, but your private data has the potential to cause you harm when taken out of context. In the wrong hands, your data can affect your job opportunities, relationships, insurance rates, ability to get a loan, and much more. You are not a criminal so you should not have to take this risk! What can I do about it?

FIGHT BACK:
Reconsider your trust in Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and especially the U.S. Government. Use alternative search engines like startpage.com or DuckDuckGo. Switch to Firefox. Mozilla ghts for your privacy. Use the HTTPS Everywhere Firefox extension to encrypt your web trafc. Use extensions like AdBlock, Ghostery, and NoScript to prevent online tracking. Delete your Facebook content and then delete your Facebook. Prefer to talk to your friends in person, instead of online. Learn about encryption. Attend or host a CryptoParty https://cryptoparty.org. Encrypt your email with PGP. Encrypt your chats with OTR. Encrypt your calls with RedPhone. Encrypt your les, especially les you sync to DropBox. Use Tor to browse the internet. Run a Tor relay to strengthen the Tor network. Prefer Free (as in Freedom) and open source software. Use cash instead of credit cards. Use Bitcoin online. Disable location tracking on your phone. Become a member of the EFF, an organization dedicated to protecting your digital freedom. Vote in non-presidential elections. Spread this message.
