Nigeria Facts:
Located entirely between the equator and the Tropic of Cancer. The most populous black country in the world (app. 134 million people). Most populated country in Africa (8th most populated in the world). Nigerians belong to more than 250 ethnic groups. Most of the ethnic groups are found in the middle of the country where every town has a different language.

Member of the Commonwealth. Gained independence in 1960. Consists of 36 states (similar to the United States). 2 times the size of California. Named after the river Niger. Terrain: Niger Delta, rain forests, and high savanna covered plataeus.
