Topic: Going overseas for university study is an exciting prospect for many people.
But while it may offer some advantages, it is probably better to stay home because of
the difficulties a student inevitably encounters living and studying in a different
culture. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Many people want to go overseas for university study. Of course, it offers not only some
advantages but also some difficulties. However, it is unreasonable to stay at home
because of the difficulties a student inevitably encounters living and studying in a
different culture.

When you go abroad for university studying, you also have to learn the culture. When in
Rome, do as the Roman do. Certainly, you will encounter with some difficulties or even
culture shocks. Yet, you will get used to it day by day, and you will get more knowledge
and experience on that culture. Every culture has special things and you will find it
interesting when you get involved in it. Learning a culture is also a way to learn.
Therefore, living and studying in a different culture is not the reason why you should not
go overseas for university study.

Moreover, there are a lot of people are in the same situation. They go to another country
for university study and have to adapt to a different culture. You can make friends with
them, ask them for their experience. Even when you make some mistakes in some
situations, it is not a disaster. There are a lot of people like you. They also make mistakes;
have difficulties because of culture shocks. Hence, it is understandable to worry about
differences between cultures when studying abroad, but it is not the reason to stay at
home.

To sum up, going overseas for university study will bring you a lot of new things.
Although you will have some difficulties, you will have a chance to discover a different
culture. You will get experience and knowledge, so it is ridiculous to stay at home
because of difficulties in living and studying in a different culture.
