ENGLISH III TOPIC: PORT OF VALENCIA I.

LOCATION: The port of Valencia as it name says is located in the city of Valencia in Spain. This port is situated next to the Mediterranean Sea basin and it has an annual traffic capacity of around 57 million tons of cargo and 4, 210, 000 TEUS. Besides, this is one of the most important ports in Spain because it gives a job opportunity to almost 15,000 people and it provides services to more than 7,500 ships every year.

DESCRIPTION: This port is one of the biggest ports in Spain because of the annual traffic that it has and it is owned by the Port Authority of Valencia. Also, it is the center of the Economic activity in an area with a radius of 350 km that generates 51 percent of the Spains GDP or most known as the Gross domestic product. The port has quays with a length of 12 km and a total storage area of 300 acres. The type of harbor that is has is natural and artificial at the same time. It has 40 available berths and 72 wharfs.

SERVICE (EQUIPMENTS) This port offer different type of services because it is a multi-purpose port, but the principal type of cargo that it moves is the containerized cargo. It offers different services like security, protection to the cargo and to the people on board, pilotage, stowage of the cargo, transshipment and others. Also, it has different equipments like forklifts, gantry cranes, mobile harbor cranes, wide span gantries, crawler cranes, straddle carriers, reach stackers and more. Also, this port has pipelines, pumps, tanks, silos and big storages areas.

IMPORTANCE: To conclude, I think that the port of Valencia is very important not only for the economy of Spain also for the entire world because it is in the top ten of all Europe talking about the containers traffic. Also, it provides the chance to 15,000 people to get a job, so that is something that must be considerate to realize how important this port is in the world.
