Aim

Temperature

The aim of this Extended Experimental Investigation is to observe the effects of temperature on Analyse reaction time. If then the temperature of the human body exceeds, the rate of reaction will decrease. I think that when the temperature goes beyond the scope of the human bodies that the reaction will decrease, this is because amylase reacts quickest at normal body temperature.

Hypothesis Predictions

Procedure

Step 1. Add 10 mL of starch solution to the first tube. Step 2. Add 2mL of amylase to Tube. Leave this tube at room temperature. Step 3. Allow the reaction to proceed for 1 minute, mixing occasionally. Check and record the temperatures in the ice and at room temperature. Step 4. Stop the reaction after 1 minute by adding 1 drops of Iodine solution to first tube. Mix well. Remove tubes from the ice bucket or water baths. Step 5. Add 1 drop from the tube to the beaker then add 1 drop of iodine solution on it; mix thoroughly. Step 6. Compare the colour intensity of each tube to the Standards. Record the approximate starch concentration in a table on your paper.
