John 12.48; 2 Cor. 5.10 We Will Be Judged

The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. John 12.48, ESV (61)

The one who rejects me speaks to the ability God has given each and every human to choose whether or not they will accept Jesus. God does not have a master list of the saved and/or the damned. If you choose not to accept Jesus, you have no one to blame but yourself. And does not receive my words emphasizes that Jesus has given us a plan and pattern to followhis words. The person who does not follow the words of Jesus will not be accepted by God. Saving faith is more than simply acknowledging God or accepting him as your personal savior. Saving faith is about trusting and obeying God. The word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day again points to the fact that God has a plan and pattern for us to follow. In the last day you, I, and all humans will be judged according to whether or not we kept his word.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. 2 Cor. 5.10, ESV (62)

We must all appear emphasizes that every human will stand before Christ to be judged and for Christ to reach a verdict regarding our eternal dwelling placeheaven or hell. Each one will receive what is due for what he has done again points to the fact that God gives us free willwe must choose to do right, we must choose to obey Christ. Contrary to the teaching of many today, we must do that which is right in order to be saved. If you do wrong, if you sin, you will go to hell. We must obey the gospel and we must obey God.
