Jan 18,1644 Perplexed Pilgrims in Boston reported America's first UFO sighting.
According to The Journal of John Winthrop (Dunn, Savage, and Yeandle, 1996), p. 493, there is a followup on Winthrops January 18 report: The 18th of this month two lights were seen near Boston, (as is before mentioned,) and a week after the like was seen again. This time on the 25th, two lights converged,

and sometimes they shot out flames and sometimes sparkles. This was about eight of the clock in the evening, and was seen by many.

THE "BOSTON STRANGLER", IS CONVICTED OF NUMEROUS CRIMES AND IS SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT.
Between June 14, 1962 and January 4, 1964, 13 single women between the ages of 19 and 85 were murdered in the Boston area. Most were sexually assaulted and strangled in their apartments. Without any sign of forced entry into their dwellings, the women were assumed to have either known their assailant or have voluntarily allowed them into their homes, believing them to be an apartment maintenance man, delivery man, or some other service man. Despite enormous media publicity that would presumably have discouraged women from admitting strangers into their homes after the first few murders, the attacks continued. The killings panicked and frightened many Boston-area young females, causing some to leave the area.

Hermann von Helmholtz formulated mathematical equations for X-rays. Physicist Johann Hittorf observed tubes with energy rays extending from a negative electrode. William Crookes investigated the effects of energy discharges on rare gases. Heinrich Hertz began experimenting and demonstrated that cathode rays could penetrate very thin metal foil (such as aluminium). In 1887, Nikola Tesla began to investigate X-rays and produced the bremsstrahlung process. In 1895, Wilhelm Rntgen began observing and further documenting Xrays while experimenting with vacuum tubes. On January 18, 1896 an X-ray machine was formally displayed by H.L. Smith.

METEORITE LANDED ON EARTH, J A N 18, 200 0

Fragments of the Tagish Lake meteorite landed upon the Earth on January 18, 2000 at 16:43 UT (08:43 local time in Yukon) after a large meteoroid exploded in the upper atmosphere at altitudes of 5030 kilometres (31 19 mi) with an estimated total energy release of about 1.7 kilotons. Following the reported sighting of a fireballin southern Yukon and northern British Columbia, Canada, more than 500 fragments of the meteorite were collected from the lake's frozen surface. Post-event atmospheric photographs of the trail left by the associated fireball and U.S. Department of Defense satellite information yielded the meteor trajectory. [2] Most of the stony, carbonaceous fragm ents landed on the Taku Arm of the lake, coming to rest on the lake's frozen surface. The passage of the fireball and the highaltitude explosion set off a wide array of satellite sensors as well A 159 gram fragment of the as seismographs. Tagish Lake meteorite .

WARSAW GHETTO UPRISING GHETTO JAN 18,1943

On January 18, 1943, after almost four months without any deportations, the Germans suddenly entered the Warsaw ghetto intent upon a further deportation. Within hours, some 600 Jews were shot and 5,000 others rounded up. The Germans expected no resistance, but preparations to resist had been going on since the previous autumn.[The first instances of Jewish armed resistance began that day. and blew up the ghetto buildings, block by block, rounding up or murdering anybody they could capture. Significant resistance ended on April 28, and the Nazi operation officially ended in midMay, symbolically culminating with the demolition of the Great Synagogue of Warsaw on May 16. According to the official report, at least 56,065 people were killed on the spot or deported to German Nazi concentration and death camps, most of them to Treblinka.

four days and the OB and ZWresistance organizations took control of the Ghetto, building shelters and fighting posts and operating against Jewish collaborators. The final battle started on the eve of Passover of April 19, 1943, when a Nazi force consisting of several thousand troops entered the ghetto.
