Adolescents are the building blocks of any nation. On their physical and mental health depends the well being of the future generation. However, adolescence is a period of transition & turmoil as the youngsters go from childhood to adulthood, many of them are unable to adapt to this sudden change & are inclined towards risk taking behaviours thus endangering themselves. The Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (FOGSI) has formed the Adolescent Health Committee to reach out to these youngsters and guide them towards a safe future. Delhi Public School Ghaziabad is a supporter of this endaevour and joined hands together with Ghaziabad Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (GOGS) to start Young Womens Club in various educational Institutions in the year 2012. Members of the School Club: Lead Team: A team of 20- 25 girls from classes 8-12 Core Team: all girls of Secondary Wing Dr. Dipti Yadav (Counsellor) Ms Kala Nagarkoti (Headmistress- Secondary Wing) Ms Jyoti Gupta (Principal)

Young Womens Club Meetings by Peer educators


Date: 10th- 17th July 2013 Venue: Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Participants: All Girls classes VI- X Facilitator: Ms Kala Nagarkoti (Headmistress Secondary Wing), Dr. Dipti Yadav (Counselor) Girls of class VI attended the meeting of the young womens club on July 10, 2013. Peer educators addressed them on various issues ranging from growing up during adolescence, understanding various physiological and psychological changes, nutrition and being safe and responsible. The young girls were able to express their thoughts and concerns openly. They freely discussed how to effectively adapt to various critical situations of life and connected well with their peer educators. They were eager to have more meetings of such kind. The club would surely be able to achieve its objective of helping all the girls in becoming Aware, Responsible and Empowered.
