The patient is a 53 year old black gentleman with history of diabetes for atleast 6 months; he believes he may have had diabetes for longer than that even for couple of years. He is in the hospital with a foot ulcer and this consultation is to rule out diabetes retinopathy, he denies visual complaint. Examination: The pupils are equal and reactive without the upper lid defect confrontational visual fields are four in finger counting in both eyes, barging therefore pen light examination is normal, upon this examination of both eye shows slight dot on blood haemorrhages, there is no extra date in the posterior fore and both macular appear to be normal, there is no neovascularisation, there is no vitreous haemorrhage. Impression: Background diabetic retinopathy Clan: I recommended that he had a follow up in the office within the next six months.
