    RADIO NETWORK CONTROLLER (RNC) This is under 3G/WCDMA.

    Its main function is to control all radio functions on the radio access network. On this network, it does two main functions. The RNC helps with Mobility Management: This includes handover management either in idle or active mode. Idle mode is when the User Equipment (UE) IS NOT ENGAGED where as active mode is when the UE is engaged or surfing. Interfaces that connect to the RNC:
