Description of Interest Area

I am broadly interested in studying the social change. The areas that interest me in the current phase of globalization are the impact of international migration and diaspora on society. In my view, one phenomenon that is creating impact on the global sphere is entrepreneurship (which is a complex interplay of social, psychological, economic and political factors). I would specifically focus on the issue of entrepreneurship and to find out the sociological factors contributed towards that. I assume that countries which are highly enterprising (core) not only attract skilled labour but also create a vicious cycle to further exploit the non enterprising countries (periphery). This is facilitated through various policies at political levels and through the market forces. My question is whether diaspora is a force to complement or counter these? Given the new development in the technologies and communication and the emergence of new players (diaspora), what empirical evidences are emerging? This is in the contest of post liberalized India vis a vis diaspora. India having of the largest skilled diaspora in the world, a sociological study on this issue seems more relevant today. Given a platform I would seriously pursue research on these aspects.
