Slanderer of
The Mother of Believers
Aesha Is Infidel
23. Indeed, those who slander
Chaste, unaware and believing
Women, cursed are they
In the world and the Hereafter.
Theirs will be severe torment.
24. On the Day when their
Tongues, their hands
And their feet testify
Against them as to
What they used to do.
25. On that day Allah
Will pay them their
Recompense in full and
They will know that Allah,
He is the manifest Truth.

The descent of this verse relates


particularly to those who slandered
Mother of the Believers Aesha
(radhiallah anha) said Saeed bin
Jubair.
Ibn Abbas and Dhohak and others
said its descent relates to Mother of
the Believers Aesha and includes all
other mothers of the Believers due to
their honor and dignity. If anyone
slanders any of them, Allahs
torment will come upon him.
Ibn Kathir said when Mother of the
Believers Aesha the daughter of
Al-Siddiqui (radhiallah anhuma) was

subjected to calumniation, this verse
was sent down.
All the scholars without exception
are unanimous that any one after the
descent of this verse slanders her
denies the Quran. He is an infidel
and his repentance shall not be
accepted.
Ibn Abbas on the day of Arafat was
at Al-Basra, he was asked
explanation of the Quran and of this
verse, he said any one who commits
a sin, his penitence is accepted
except one who slanders Mother of
the Believers Aesha.
Imam Al-Razi said those who
accuse chaste women
Save those who thereafter repent,
Allah is Oft Forgiving . See verse 4
and 5 above. But who slanders
Mother of the believers his penitence
is not accepted as Allah said Cursed
are they in the world and in the
Hereafter, and did not mention any
exception along with this verse. And
one cursed in the Hereafter will not
enter the Heaven. Hence the Quran
makes it clear that slanderer of any
chaste woman does not commit
infidelity but Slanderer of mother of
the believers is infidel.
Allah said that day their
tongues, their hands and their feet
testify against them. It is for
infidels only, their limbs will testify
against them and for them is severe
torment particularly who slander any
mother of the believers.

means recompense but here it means
punishment to those who slander the
Mother of the Believers Aesha
(radhiallah anha). It is a famous
proverb as you sow, so you reap.
It also means reckoning with
justice. Allah is a great Sustainer.
Everything depends for its existence
to Him. On the Day of Reckoning
every soul will know whatever it had
done in the life of this world.
26. Vile women
Are for vile men
And vile men
Are for vile women.
Good women
Are for good men
And good men
Are for good women,
They are innocent
Of that which people say.
For them is forgiveness
And an honored provision.
Mujahid, Ata, Saeed bin Jubair,
Al-Shabi, Al-Hasan AlBasri, Habib
bin Abi Thabit, an Al-Dhak all held
that the verse under citation has been
sent down about Mother of the
Believer Aesha (radhiallah anha) and
about those who culminated her.
The words of reproach are for
those who are wretched and corrupt.
Good and nice persons deserve good
words said Ibn Jarir.
Whatever ascribed the hypocrites
to Umm-el Momineen (Mother of
the Believers)
Aesh (radhiallah
anha) is fabrication. She is blameless

that is the reason Allah said: They
are innocent of that which people
say. She and Safwan bin Moattal
both are innocent what people
hypocrites ascribe to them.
Al-Khazin a famous commentator
Of the Holy Quran said: if Masrooq
reported about Umm-el-Momineen
Aesha, he used to say: Narrated to
me Aesha the Righteous and the
daughter of Righteous and beloved to
the Apostle of Allah (sallallaho alaihi
wasallam) whose innocence was
revealed from the Heaven.
Al-Imam Al-Seouti in his Book
Dur-al-Manthur reported from AlTabrani: Ibn Abbas in explanation to
Vile women are for vile men said:
They are the men like Abdullah bin
Obai who doubt in Allahs revelation
and culminated the Chief of women
in the world. Good women are for
good men Allah made Aesha pure
for His Prophet. Gabriel came to the
Prophet bringing her portrait on a
piece of silk when she was in the
womb of her mother and said to him:
Aesha daughter of Abu Bakar is your
wife in the world and in the Heaven
in place of Khadija who had died.
This glad tiding was given to him by
Gabriel to the Prophet (Sallallaho
alaihi wasallam) to be delighted and
get pacified. Good men are for
good women It refers to the Apostle
of Allah (sallallaho alaihi wasallam).
Allah made him pure for Himself
and made him the Chief of all born
from Adam and good women points

to Umm-el-Momineen Aesha, Allah
revealed her innocence from
whatever was ascribed to her by the
hypocrite Abdullah bin Obai. For
her is forgiveness and honored
provision, it is interpreted as abode
in the Heaven for all who are
righteous.
The Facts Prove That
Umm-el-Momineen Aesha
(radhiallah anho)
Is Innocent From The Fight
On the Day of Camel
Al-Imam Al-Razi said: The
Schismatic and other sects attribute
on her infidelity because of the war
on the Day of Jamal (Camel). They
deny the text of the Holy Quran,
which
positively
asserts
her
innocence. It is preceded she is
among the people of the Heaven yet
they ascribe wretchedness to her. No
one could ascribe any wretchedness
to the glad tiding given by the
Prophet to those ten that they are
among the people of Heaven.
Ibn Kathir in his book AlBidaya-wa- Al-Nihaya Vol. 7 wrote
that Abdullah bin Saba seduced a
tumult against the Caliph Uthman
bin Affan (radhiallah anho).
He gathered with him schismatic
insurgents (Al-Khawarij) Harqoos
bin Zohair, Al-Ashtar Al-Nakhai,
Sharih bin Aofa, Salim bin Thalaba,
Ghulab bin Haytham and others
about 2,500
men. They were all from Egypt, Al-

Basra and Al-Koofa. They entered
Medina assassinated Uthman and
indulged in pillage and plundering.
Al-Waqdi authentically stated that
the Day Utman was assassinated his
treasurer had 30.5 million Dirham
and 100,000 Dinar (gold) all this
wealth was plundered.
Ibn Kathir said: Anything they
passed by they had taken it away
then they called their folk to take
over the treasury (Bait-al-Mal) that
had a lot of wealth of 20 years
conquest during the reign of
Caliphate.
After they plundered, they knew
that whole Muslim Ummah would be
behind them because all those places
from where they had come were
under the rule of Muslim Empire.
Hence, they searched someone to
protect them and take oath of
allegiance on his hand. They went to
Ali, Al-Zubair, Talha, Saad bin
Waqqas, and Abdullah bin Omar
(radhiallah anhum) all refused. They
said we would go back after killing
Uthman without any protection.
Then Again they went to Ali
(radhiallah anho) beseeching him.
Ali (radhiallah anho) intended to take
them away from the sanctuary of
Medina so he agreed to take oath of
allegiance from them.
The first man to take the oath of
allegiance was Al-Ashtar Al-Nakhai
one among the plunderers on
Thursday 24 Dhul Hijjah 35 -Hijra.

when they agreed: He is suitable for
taking the oath of allegiance took the
oaths.. When Talha was asked How
did you take the oath of allegiance,
he replied I did with sword on my
neck. So said Al-Zubair.
When the matter of oath of
allegiance was over, Talha, and AlZubair and chief companions of the
Prophet asked Ali (radhiallah anho)
to enforce rule of the Quran to
punish the assassinators of Uthman
(radhiallah anho). He regretted
fearing tumult and bloodshed and
said it is not possible this day.
Ibn Abbas forbade him not to
leave Medina on the insistence of
those people but he refused and
yielded with schismatic.
His son Hasan bin Ali came to
him and said O my father! Forsake
it, for I fear bloodshed among the
Muslims and occurrence of
difference among them but he did
not accept his counsel.
After assassination of Uthman bin
Affan (radhiallah anho) Al-Noman
bin Bashir went Al-Sham (Syria)
with the shirt of Uthman bin Affan
immersed in his blood with the
fingers of his wife Naila which were
cut off with a part of her palm when
she tried to save him. He gave it to
Moawiyah the Governor of Syria. He
placed his shirt and hanged the
fingers of Naila with the sleeve over
his pulpit. People came seeing this
bloody scene, they wept and swore to
take revenge from the murderers of

Uthman.
Ibn Kathir said: Ali hated them
for whatever had occurred but he had
to wait because of the turn of events,
which did not suit him. As those
schismatic had totally besieged him
and they did not allow the
companions of the Prophet to come
close to him.
The people of the tribe of Bani
Umayya (tribe of Uthman) left
Medina for Mecca. Al-Zubair and
Talha took his permission to perform
Umrah. He allowed them to go to
Mecca. There gathered many persons
and among them elderly companions
of the Prophet.
Umm-el-Momineen
Aesha
(radhiallah anha) addressing them
said: It is on us to ask for the avenge
the assassination of Uthman. He was
murdered in the sanctuary of Medina
and in the sanctified month close to
the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi
wasallam). They plundered and
pillaged the wealth. The elderly
companions were there. They all
agreed to enforce the rule of Quran
over killers and plunderers.
They all agreed to go to Al-Basra
to get enforcement from there and
begin with the killers of Uthman who
were there too.
The Mother of The Believers
Aesha Uttered She Came for
Peacemaking and Conciliation
Ali (radhiallah anho) sent Alqaqaa

bin Amr as a messenger to Talha and
Al-Zubair (radhiallah anhuma).
Alqaqaa came to Al-Basra, He
visited Aesah (radhiallah anha) and
asked her: O Mother! What made
you to come this city. She said O
son! For peacemaking between
people. He asked her to send for
Talha and Al-Zubair, They came. AlQaqaa said I asked the mother of the
believers for what she had come?
She said I came to reconciliation and
for peace making between people.
He said We also want conciliation
but on what conditions the peace
could be attained? They both said the
murderers of Uthman if we leave
them, we leave to implement the
order of the Quran.
Allah said: O ye who believe!
Retaliation is prescribed for you in
the matter of the murdered. And
there is life for you in retaliation, O
men of understanding that ye may
ward off evil. (2/178,179)
Ali (radhiallah anho) Addressed
Both Sides After They
Agreed For Peace
Al-Qaqaa went back to Ali
(radhiallah anho) and informed him
about their wishing peace. The folk
agreed who agreed but some did
hate.
Umm-el-Momineen Aesha (Allah
may be pleased wither) sent to Ali
(radhiallah anho) informing him that
she had come for reconciliation and

peace. So people became happy.
Address of Ali (radhiallah anho)
Ali (radhiallah anho) stood
addressing the people. He mentioned
the days of ignorance which were
full of wretchedness. And said It is
Islam which brought among us
happiness and love with each other.
Allah gathered them with his Prophet
(sallallaho alaihi wasallam) and then
with caliph Abu Bakar Al-Siddiqu
and Omar bin Al-Khattab and then
with Uthman. Then occurred what
occurred over the Ummah. Among
the people who demanded the world
and they were jealous of the boon
which Allah had given. They desired
to deteriorate Islam. But Allah does
what He intends.
He said I am going tomorrow so
come with me and none of those who
had helped in the murder of Uthman
will follow me.
The Schismatic (Al-Khawarij)
Said This Peace Will Culminate
On Our Bloodshed
They Plotted A Sinister Plot?
Ibn Kathir said when Al-Khawarij
heard the address of Ali (radhiallah
anho) they held a meeting of their
chiefs. They were Al-Ashtar AlNakhai, Shariha bin Aufa, and
Abdullah bin Saba known as Ibn AlSauda, Salim bin Thalaba and
Ghulab bin Haitham. They said we

heard what Ali said. By God he has
full knowledge of the Book of Allah
i.e. to execute murderers of Uthman.
He shall execute them. Tomorrow
the people will surround you. Whom
they want, they are you all. What can
you do? Your number is less and
they are in great number.
Al-Ashtar Al-Nakhai said we have
already known Talha and Al-Zubair.
They have come for you. What Ali
intends that too we have known
today. The peace of both the parties
will culminate on our bloodshed. If
that occurs I shall make Ali to join
Uthman. Abdullah bin Ibn Saba said
the worse you said. The murderers
of Uthman are 2,500 and Talha and
Al-Zubair are five thousand and you
have no power to fight them, They
want to execute you all.
Ghulab bin Haitham said let us go
back to our country and enjoy our
lives. Abdullah bin Saba said the
worse you said. The people will
pounce upon you. Abdullah Ibn
Saba Known as Ibn Al-Sauda,
Allahs curse upon him, said your
caravan i.e. your folk are in between
all the people in the camp. Let us
not leave both the parties to gather
together. Ibn Kathir said: People
wanted to pass the night in peace but
the murderers of Utman passed the
night manipulating to start the fight
in the darkness of night. So they
jumped over every one with their
swords close to them. People stood
from their sleep and held their

weapons. They said the people of AlKoofa attacked us during the night.
The other party thought the army of
Ali has attacked them. The news
reached Ali. He was told that people
of Al-Basra attacked them. The
battle began.
Those Al-Khawarij destroyed the
peace which was close to happen.
They were foremost in the battle.
Kaab bin Sawar the District
Judge of Al-Basra came to Mother
of the Believers and said haply the
people may come to reconciliation
on your call. She was made to sit in a
litter (howdaj) over the camel. They
covered it with shield of armor. She
was brought to battle field. She gave
a copy of Holy Quran to Kaab bin
Sawar told him to call the people to
obey the Book of Allah. At that hour
the battle was in full swing. Kaab
bin Sawar advanced raising the
Quran in his hands calling them for
peace. He faced the army of the
people of Al-Koofa. Abdullah bin
Saba with his party of Khawarij
were in the first line and killing
people of Al-Basra to whom they
could. When they saw Kaab bin
Sawar raising the Quran they all
shot at him arrows till they killed
him.
The arrows struck the litter
howdaj of Umm-el-Momineen. She
called the people saying O people!
Remember the Day of Reckoning.
She raised her hands invoking the
curse of Allah over the murderers of
Uthman. The people cried with her

entreating Allah saying Amen with
her. Till the cries reached to Ali, he
asked what is it for? They told him
that Umm-el-Momineen invoking
curse of Allah over the murderers of
Uthman. Ali said Allahs curse do
fall upon them. Those murderers
continued to shoot at howdaj till it
became like a hedgehog. The people
defending her fought chivalrously till
they advanced to the place where
was Ali. A brave
and fearless
woman and a perfect believer who
reposes her trust in Allah the Doer of
what He intends. Bani Addi bin Abd
Munaf advanced fighting fiercely
holding the bridle of camel. They
raised the head of the camel. The
enemy said so far this camel is
standing the war will continue.
Several people died while attempting
to reach the howdaj of Umm-elMomineen. Then Al-Harith AlDhabi took hold the reins of the
camel the bravest fighter, while
fighting he said a verse:
We are from the tribe of
Dhuba the people of camel
We fight and encounter in a duel
Ibn Affan was killed
By a sharpened spear
We love the death with no fear.
Then Ali (radhiallah anho) advanced
and asked to cut the legs of camel.
with
intention
that
Umm-elMomineen should not get hurt. The
camel fell with extremely loud shriek
which was never heard before. Ali
ordered to lift the Howdaj. It was

taken away in between the dead
bodies. Ali (radhiallah anho) asked
Muhammad bin Abi Bakar and
Ammar to erect a tent for her.
Ali bin Abi Talib (radhiallah anho)
came to Umm-el-Momineen Aesha
(radhiallah anha) He saluted her and
said: How are you O Mother? She
said I am
quite well.
Many
prominent and other believers came
to salute the Mother of the believers
Aesha (radhiallah anha).
In this war a very large number of
people were killed it made Ali
(radhiallah anho) to say to his son
Al-Hasan. O My son! Would Allah,
had me to die twenty years before
this day. He said: O my father! I
apprised you long before this. He
said O my son! I could not perceive
that the matter will reach to such
an extreme.
The above facts did prove that the
fight on the Day of Camel had
occurred because of the deception,
duplicity and defraudation of
Sachismatics (Al-Khawarij) who
spoiled the peace which was agreed
by both the parties.
The Mother of the Believers Aesha
(radhiallah anha) did not come in the
battle field on her own. She was
brought by the District Judge Kaab
bin Sawar expecting that her call
might make the people to forsake the
fight. But the Khawarij i.e the
murderers of Uthman were resolute
to continue the fight to save
themselves from dire consequences

which would certainly result in their
beheading. They shot the arrows to
kill her till her litter became like
hedgehog. The chivalry of the
believers around her stopped them to
approach her Howdaj.
She is innocent from the fight on
the Day of Camel.
To label infidelity on her by the
schismatic and others is to deny the
Quran and all the slanderers over her
are infidel and their penitence will
not be accepted.
The Chief Characteristics
Which Excel The Mother Of the
Believers Aesha (radhiallah anha)
Over All the Women of the World
Ibn Kathir said: The Mother Of
the Believers Aesha (radhiallah
anha) surpasses in eminence over all
the wives of the prophets and she is
wife of Chief all the descendents of
Adam in the world and in the
Hereafter.
The only virgin with whom the
Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallam)
wedded. In a report of Al-Tabrani
Ibn Abbas said She is the Chief over
all the women of the world, and good
women are for good men. Allah
made Aesha pious and pure for His
Prophet. The Arch Angel Gabriel
brought to the Prophet on a piece of
Silk, the portrait of Aesha daughter
of Abu Bakar when Khadija had
died and Aesha was yet in the
womb of her mother and told him:

She is your wife in the world and in
the Heaven to cool your eyes. She
would be in place of Khadija
(radhiallah anha).
Gabriel used to descend with
revelation to the Prophet when he
used to be with the mother of the
believers in the same comforter. She
said: The Prophet ran into the pangs
of death with his head on her chest.
Ibn Abbas said: Allah absolved her
from accusation of hypocrite
Abdullah bin Obai and revealed her
innocence which is recited in the
mosques. It was due to her that Allah
sent down Tayamum (to wash with
clean sand or earth where water is un
available. She was the most beloved
wife of Apostle of Allah (sallallaho
alaihi wasallam).
She lived for forty years after the
Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallam)
and reported various traditions and
was a jurist who enjoyed authority
on religious problems and the
scholars consulted her.
