The Delta Clinic proudly presents: Inaugural ADHD Conference

A Timely Dialogue What Makes a Gold Standard Approach to ADHD Management, Intervention & Treatment?

2nd August 2013 [Friday]

Preamble:
ADHD is not without its controversy - the media continues to portray a negative picture of this debilitating condition. According to Peters & Johnson [2008] in their research on mothers experiences of parenting a child with ADHD, Its been 10 years of being on the edge. The caring and responsibility is overwhelming. If I had my time all over again, I wouldnt tell the truth: stigmatised, scrutinised and criticised. The NSW Department of Health final report [2007] of the Special Review on ADHD in Children & Adolescent states, Most prescribers indicated major gaps in the following services; educational support, behavioural therapy, family therapy & psychological services critical to the optimal management of ADHD in this age groups. Despite significant progress and research on ADHD, little is said about the importance of collaborative care and systemic school intervention. If this is the case then what makes the Gold Standard approach to this debilitating condition?
