How at the words creative and inventive similar? h. How are they different? 2. Informational Reading/Note Taking Students will read biographies and note key events that occur in the subjects life. Students will use WH questions to guide their note taking. 3. Research and Informative/Explanatory Writing Students will read age appropriate biographies and use their newly developed note taking skills to note key events. Students will use the information they have collected to develop a five slide PowerPoint presentation. 4. Wax Museum Students create a wax museum and dress up as their assigned person and tell about his/her life. 5. Research/Informational Text/Oral Presentation Students will choose an invention they love, a painting they love or a song they love. Students will use the WH questions to guide their research on who invented or created the item. Students will create a presentation to share their research. 6. Fluency/Poetry Activity Students will choose a poem and practice reciting it in the way that best exemplifies the meaning of the poem. Students will record their reading and create an illustration to go with the reading. The recording and illustration will be posted to the website. 7. Reflective/Opinion Writing You began this unit with a discussion about three words; creative, inventive and notable. Choose the person from this unit that you believe to be the most creative, inventive or notable. Write about the person you choose, and give reasons why you believe they are creative, inventive or notable. 8. Art/Class Discussion Compare two works of art. What is the focal point? Why did the artist use this as the focal point? What details did the artist use? 9. Art/Narrative Writing If you were to create a self-portrait or a portrait of someone you respect, what features would you include? Write a brief narrative describing your imagined portrait.
