TVS Motor launched TVS Victor GX, Victor GLX and TVS Star in FY05 History
TVS Motor Company Ltd (TVS Motor) was established in 1983 as TVS-Suzuki Ltd by Sundaram-Clayton and Suzuki Motor Corporation, to manufacture motorcycles. The company introduced Shogun 110 cc, its rst catalytic converter enabled motorcycle in 1996, and launched Victor, a four-stroke 110 cc motorcycle in 2001. TVS Motor terminated the JV with Suzuki in 2001. The company increased its stake in the company to 58.4%, following which the company acquired its present name. Victor, Scooty, Fiero, Star, Centra and Super XL. In FY05, sales of two-stroke motorcycle fell 58% to 170,000, four-stroke motorcycle sales rose 13% to 537,000, ungeared scooter sales rose 19% to 189,000 and moped sales rose 5% to 251,000. Exports rose 78% in value terms. In FY05, TVS Motor rolled out TVS Victor GX 110 cc, Victor GLX 125 cc, TVS Star and the Scooty Pep Splash series. In FY05, Lakshmi Auto Components Ltd merged with the company, along with its engine components business and investments.

TVS Motor manufactures motorcycles, scooterettes and mopeds at Mysore in Karnataka and Hosur in TN. TVS Motor is in the process of setting up a manufacturing facility for three wheelers with an initial capacity of 100,000 vehicles p.a. at its Mysore plant. The company is also establishing a twowheeler manufacturing facility at Solan district in HP with an initial annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles. Its brands include:

For the year to Mar 31, 2005, total income increased to Rs 29.6 bn, up 3.4% over the previous years gure. Net prot increased 0.4% to Rs 1.4 bn. As per unaudited results for the nine months ended Dec 31, 2005, the company recorded an income of Rs 24.5 bn and a net prot of Rs 879.1 mn as compared with an income of Rs 21.8 bn and a net prot of Rs 896.5 mn in the corresponding period previous year.
