World War II

Finally in 1945 the U.S. brought an end to WWII Many lives were lost and others injured To prevent another tragic war Pres. Truman Did what ever he could to contain communism

What is Communism

Communism is a government where they would try to evenly distribute needs Didnt work because govt would usually use for corrupt purposes (like military). People who work harder get the same as the people who didnt work as much Would cause the surrounding countries to be communist and create a buffer zone

Democracy Vs. Communism

The U.S. tried to fight back Communism using its own government, Democracy. U.S. democracy started to spread in Europe and parts of Asia Communism started to fall upon itself Democracy produced stronger countries

Vietnam War

Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam supported communism Caused Vietnam to split into North (communist) and South (democratic) America tried to stop the succession of the north to prevent more communism

From 1964-1969 the U.S. fought N. Vietnam The war brought confusion as the enemy made it seem that the U.S. soldiers attacked the innocent U.S. had no choice but to back out

In 1975 Vietnam finally became a united nation Communism became the ruling govt Surrounding countries like Cambodia became communist as well

North and South Korea

The Korean Peninsula was split into north (communist) and south (democracy) Tension between the two rose higher and higher Eventually in 1950 North Korea attacked South Korea

The U.S. came in and helped out South Korea Carefully sending only a few troops to prevent another big war South Korea pushed up the border line but at the last moment China interfered making the 38th parallel

What Happened

In the end the battle ended in a stalemate This resulted in American soldiers being sent for protection While the Cold War may have ended it still remains in Korea

North and South Korea Now

North Korea remained as a dictatorship and threatens other countries for their needs South Korea patrols the DMZ ( border line) everyday America tries to sop invasion or there could be another war
