PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE SUMMARY Shell Port Dickson Refinery LPG Plant Manager (Jan 2011 Present)
I lead 75 company and contract staff in managing the largest Filling Plant in the East with a Refinery in accordance to Shell Standards for Health Safety and Environment (HSE). Customer satisfaction throughout the Central, Eastern and Northern regions of Peninsular Malaysia relies on our strength in amalgamating Productivity & Cost Management with Exceptional Quality & Safety. Achieving Efficient Operations requires me to ensure solid maintenance plans are met with timely resource availability & people competency. Constantly, I manage Upgrade Projects, Equipment Enhancements & Process Improvements. Government Bodies, Contractors & other Shell businesses are key stakeholders that I constantly manage.

Shell Pasir Gudang LPG Plant Manager (Jan 2009 Dec 2010)
As a critical support plant, ensuring timely ship arrivals and berth availability by managing Johor Port was critical in ensuring sufficient tank stock levels. I led 50 company and contract staff in managing a Sea-Fed Filling Plant in accordance to Shell Standards for Health Safety and Environment (HSE). Managing effective Equipment upgrades and process improvements helped us reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Shell LPG Transport Executive (May 2005 Dec 2008)

Tasked to manage 90 cylinder & tanker trucks across Malaysia & Singapore in compliance to Shells Road Safety Standards, my responsibilities began with developing & implementing a new structured Contracting & Procurement strategy. Successful contract implementation & performance throughout Malaysia & Singapore was periodically reviewed via Contractor Safety Performance Audits. This allowed us to achieve our targeted Distribution Efficiency with stretched Cost Targets throughout a period of increasing Diesel prices was critical to developing resource management and timely delivery abilities.

TechniAir Sdn. Bhd., Petaling Jaya, (March 2004 April 2005)

As the Project Engineer for an avionics start-up, responsibilities ranged from developing Strategic Objectives, Company Policies & Business Plans. Recruitment of hardware, software and quality control engineers was the next challenge. Once executed, we began our product Design & Development journey. I then began working with British & local consultants to help us obtain EASA SIRIM & DCA certification. Working with Eurocopter Malaysia, allowed us to access critical technical data which we required. Once the Design & Development process progressed, I moved into Business Development where we began bidding for avionics solutions tenders for International companies.

Malaysia Airports Technologies Sdn. Bhd., KLIA, (Jan 2002 August 2002)
As a Systems Engineer for the IT arm of Malaysia Airpors Berhad that manages KLIAs IT infrastructure, my role was to ensure efficient aircraft and passenger operations. ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Developing Business Worth USD 1M (TechniAir). The client was a large player in the aviation arena, serving the Indian Subcontinent Civil & Military market. Their aircraft required an avionics upgrade to replace obsolete devices and remain compatible with their current design requirements. I analyzed the clients technical & operational requirements and identified suitable solutions. Effective negotiations with global providers like Honeywell, Garmin & Thales allowed us to develop a commercial proposition that would possibly differentiate us and mutually benefit both parties. We successfully secured tenders with an annual business worth of USD 1 million. Pioneering Malaysias Largest LPG Tanker The 51 Tonner (Shell Malaysia-Transport) Delivering 27 tonnes of LPG Safely & Economically throughout the Peninsular, it outdoes the existing trucks that deliver 15 tonnes. I began by developing the project objective and derived a plan to support it. The plan would encompass Regulatory approvals from the RT Department & Department of Safety & Health, resource management & work progress for the fabricator and stage review to ensure were in line with the approved design and set timelines. I was constantly engaging the local & Dutch manufacturers as the Regulatory Authorities. Designed with modern steer systems and safety features, the tanker provides easier equipment management, drive comfort and accessibility to smaller facilities. Its currently generating approximately USD 100k in savings and 40% reduced road exposure. Revolutionizing Truck Technology (Shell Malaysia-Transport) Customer premises are often small, difficult to manoeuvre & sometimes filled with obstacles. As the existing trucks were reaching their optimal age, I was tasked to replace them with trucks that would deliver more & tackle the agility issue. Using that theme as my objective, my plan addressed the Regulatory approvals involved, manufacturer resource availability & work completion. Progress was reviewed to ensure alignment to project timelines and objectives. Existing Rigid trucks could only transport 6 tonnes but we delivered the pioneering 10 tonner Rigid truck delivering larger payloads to customers with smaller facilities. Leveraging on Pioneer Technology to Optimize Deliveries (Shell Malaysia-Transport) Growing costs required the business to re-look its operations. A project was started to Optimize deliveries and it was decided that we would now assist our customers in managing their stock and turn it into a Customer Value Proposition. We implemented the Telemetry System that would allow us to monitor customer tanks & arrange for optimized deliveries. My challenge was to effectively plan equipment requirement identification, delivery & installation. Upon completion of sites across the country, we improved Customer Stock Management that led to Scheduling & Order Taking. This initiative is now a key CVP that attracts customers & improved fleet delivery performance by 20%. Winning the 2010 Global VP Award for Change Category (Shell Malaysia-Pasir Gudang). After several incidents in 2008, Shell globally embarked on the Goal Zero journey. My challenge was to motivate our operators to embrace safety and sustain their awareness and benefits of it. Faced with high operator turnover, we began by Walking the Talk and establishing the Operators League. I led my team to personally engage our operators about their concerns on safety and performance. We first addressed conditions that led to unsafe behaviour. We then moved to develop proactive behaviours with timely resolution of concerns to deliver proactive confidence to our operators. The Operators League allowed us to reward positive behaviours and reprimand negative ones. I would host Quarterly Celebrations for Incident Free Quarters, and every quarter was safe indeed. The plant successfully achieved 2 years Incident Free & worker turnover reduction of 20%.

Rainwater Recycling. (Shell Malaysia-Pasir Gudang). Realizing the need the have sustainable cost reduction, we identified water use as a potential with both financial & environmental sustainability benefits. Noting the acidity of the water in that area, we realized its cleaning potential. Our plant was an ideal place to collect rainwater & channel them into tanks. The collected water was used for various purposes throughout the plant. 7 tanks & some pipe work later, we were already seeing savings that paid back within 1 year. Average savings was approximately 30%. LPG VP Runner Up Award for Plant Optimization (Shell Malaysia-Port Dickson). We reviewed our equipment and processes to improve production, reduce waste and improve working conditions. We insulated or rubber lined noise generating equipment, replaced laborious tools with motor driven or simplified automated systems. We revamped existing layouts and practices to improve safety & efficiency. This delivered faster processes, less noise and fatigue translating into improved productivity. We improved our Production Efficiency by 10% and reduced truck turnaround time by 30%. Once achieving a better control of our consumables and parts requirements, we negotiated for better commercial and delivery terms with our suppliers in exchange for larger quantity purchases with long term arrangements. This allowed reduced stock holding, systematic order placement and delivery. 25% Cost Reduction & Effluent Control through Green Products & Processes. (Shell MalaysiaPort Dickson) Complying with environmental standards economically & sustainably required our operations to effectively replace traditional lubricants, cleaners & liquids with eco-friendly solutions, instead of Treatment Plants. I sourced out a potential product & worked closely with the supplier to develop specific & effective solutions. We now generate less scheduled waste & effluents whilst simultaneously experiencing reduced power consumption, breakdowns and labor requirement. This translated to improved equipment life, performance, reliability & durability, ingredients critical to Efficient & Economical operations.
