A general overview of the Twilight Saga's first The saga consists of four already published books, with the

fifth awaiting completion and publication, and is, by and large, a love story between two very different youngsters, Bella and Edward, who fight for their love against all odds. The protagonists, a human teenage girl and a vampire boy, set eyes on one another when the girl comes to his town to live with her father after her mother remarries. At first determined to kill her, as he feels thoroughly attracted to the scent of her blood, the handsome vampire Edward slowly falls for the girl who is already irrevocably in love with him. As she is more observant than the people around her, she soon sees that there is something different about him and his family and makes him confess to his true nature. They grow closer to each other , but the sudden, unexpected appearance of a gang of blood-thirsty vampires who are determined to stalk her and kill her drives them out of their town, Forks, to Phoenix, her former residence. There, following a hoax set up by one of the hunting vampires, she ditches Edwards family and goes to meet James the hunter- in order to save her mother thereby giving up her own chance of survival. She is saved at the last minute by Edward and his family, who kill said James, but, having already been bitten, she is threatened either with death or transformation. Edward impedes both himself undergoing terrible restraint and pain in the process- and saves her life, keeping her human. The first of the four books ends with the two lovers at the prom back in Forks, where she wants to determine him to transform her, and he tries to convince her that that is not the way. But, as they say, neither would give in.
