SYNOPSIS
The project entitled LIBRARY CONNECT is an enhancement to the existing Library management system maintained at our college. The main idea behind this project is to develop a mobile application that provides the library members with an ability to extend the duration that he/she can keep a book in hand. They will also have provision to reserve a new book, search books of their taste, view their current book holds and to know the dues that exists in the library. All these actions can be performed with a few intuitive selections through their smart phones. Methodology: The user having an Android phone with the LIBRARY CONNECT application installed on his device can access his library account after his successful login using the provided user credentials. College students and staffs are the users of the system. After login the users are provided with options to renew a borrowed book, search for a specific book and reserve it and know their library dues if any. Thus the project is divided into four main modules. Book renewal module Book reserve module Fine calculation module Searching and viewing details of books in hand. The proposed application help the user to renew a book that he/she had borrowed. The system allows the book renewal only if there is no current book reserve request hold for that book and the total renewal count for the book does not exceeded two. If the renewal is possible

then system finds the new return date by referring the holiday calendar so that the returndate never be a holiday and also each user is allowed to keep the book for 10 days. The book reserve option allows the user to reserve a book that he/she wish to borrow. For each reserve request, a priority number is assigned to the user. The book is issued to the user having highest priority. The application also provide services like calculating fine amount for each late renewal and for individual books and displaying it to the user, providing information about a books availability without visiting the library etc. Thus the proposed application allows the users a convenient mechanism to manage their library book account remotely with the help of their personal mobile phones.
