OBJECTIVE OF THE WORKSHOP

In the present day industrial scenario, manufacturing is extremely complex process which depends on many factors and their intermediate correlations. In addition, the design of technological procedures for manufacturing certain products, demands the definition and optimization of technological process parameters. As such, in today's highly integrated world, the optimization methods have become powerful tools for continual improvement of output quality of products and processes accurately and acceptably. Students, professional graduates and engineers are expected to have an exposure of various soft computing tools used for optimization. Hence, this workshop is planned to provide hands on experience over the usage of different soft computing tools available in MATLAB for optimization purpose. Two day work shop will be covering the following topics in MATLAB: > Optimization Toolbox > Genetic Algorithm > Pattern Search > Fuzzy Logic > Artificial Neural Networks > Two-Dimensional Plots > Three Dimensional Surface Plots

OUTCOME OF THE WORKSHOP

1. It helps us in using advanced optimization techniques through the MATLAB. 2. Solving research oriented problems in optimization may be explored more graphically through this Workshop. 3. Further, it helps faculty and students to get exposed and aware of advanced techniques available in MATLAB. 4. So far only conventional methods are taught to the students, with this workshop awareness on utilizing the MATLAB with advanced techniques may be introduced to students through soft computing. 5. Artificial Neural Network techniques may be used in Material science laboratory applications to study the properties of the materials. 6. Application of the topics being covered in the workshop will help us to draw the 2-D & 3-D plots in Material science laboratory. 7. This workshop provides us hands on- experience in using MATLAB software for solving the optimization problems. 8. This workshop provides hands onexperience over usage of different soft computing tools available in MATLAB for solving optimization oriented techniques. 9. As MATLAB subject is introduced for students in the SVEC 10 regulation for Mechanical Engineering students, therefore it will be useful for students also.
