ABSTRACT Objective : To learn the dynamics of the incidence of leprosy in Colombia in the period 2001 to 2010.

Methodology : It was performed a review of literature in the databases of the World Health Organization, Pan American Health Organization and the National Institute of Health (Colombia) with the use of relevant keywords in English and Spanish, the data were organized in the program Microsoft Excel v. 2010 according to geographical regions of our country; later it was estimated the incidence for each one of these and the cumulative incidence for this period. Results : According to what was found in this analysis in our country the regions most affected were the Orinoquia region, followed by the Caribbean region and finally the Amazonia region respectively; it was found that the highest rate of cumulative incidence for this period was 1.86 /10.000 inhabitants. Conclusions : It was possible to demonstrate that the year that had the largest number of reported cases was 2001 with 621 cases and the year that presented the lower number of reported cases was 2010 with 243 cases; priority should be given to the leprosy as a public health problem both in economic resources and training of health staff.
