STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES DEVELOPMENT A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is a set of written instructions that document a routine or repetitive

activity followed by an organization. The development and use of SOPs is an integral part of a successful quality system as it provides individuals with information to perform a job properly, and facilitates consistency in the quality and integrity of a product or end-result. This is achieved by minimizing variation through consistent implementation of a process or procedure even if there are temporary or permanent personnel changes. How to write a procedure: a) Scope indicate the scope i.e. area and or processes covered by the procedure b) Objective importance of the procedure c) Responsibility assign responsibilities for the procedure d) Procedure description describe the steps to perform the procedure e) Records state records to be kept, where and by who f) Review and authorization indicate the reviewers and the authorizing individual for the procedure
