Connie Tinoco Kim Strickland English 1010 04 August 2013 Self-Assessment Following this article are my Issue Exploration Project (IEP) and Annotated Bibliography. I chose HIV/AIDS discrimination as my research topic. It is a topic that intrigued me because it is medical related. The IEP informs the reader of how HIV/AIDS discrimination not only hurts the victim but our society as a whole. It is not biased; instead, it presents diverse insights and research from different specialists. After re-reading the finished products I have worked on for English 1010, including the IEP, I truly understand how important the process of writing is. It has helped me present effective production and communication, which will be required in my future career. Peer reviewing has been a very important aspect of the writing process for me. I dont believe I would have succeeded in delivering my intended ideas to my audience without this teamwork effort. It not only helped me receive feedback for my own paper but it also helped me learn others rhetorical strategies when I was peer reviewed the other persons paper. I have learned a lot from the other writers I peer reviewed. For example, while I reviewed another persons reflective essay I realized her rhetorical strategy was to stay focused on one specific topic and explore it. Implementing her strategy most definitely help me with clarity and organization in all of my papers. I used to think I couldnt improve on writing but after this class Ive learned that is entirely false. Anyone can improve on writing. I need to read extensively from different genres to see different perspectives. By doing this it will not only fuel my passion for the subject but it

will also helps bring more credibility to the paper. This will be very useful when Ill be writing research papers.
