Flexible Denture: A Viable Alternative to Conventional RPD ------------------------------------------------------------.

The Flexible denture base materials are nylon-derived thermoplastic condensation polymer, polyamide which was discovered around 1950s. With time these materials have emerged as an excellent alternative to conventionally used methyl methacrylate dentures. Partially edentulous patients with conditions like abused ridges, allergy to PMM, deep undercuts, cancerous lesions and cleft palate and any other condition where conventional partial denture technique is not a successful, flexible partial denture treatment may be an option. These materials provide excellent aesthetics and immediate comfort to the patients. These are the good sides but clinicians should also judge if the remaining teeth are in good periodontal health or not, whether there is sufficient inter-occlusal clearance and if the patient is able to bear the treatment cost or not etc. before advocating such treatment. Our topic is an attempt to share some knowledge about the various aspects of this treatment modality in a nutshell.
