Who remembers what makes up a cloud?

What role do clouds play in weather?

Water Cycle Lesson

Leanne Kearns

How do clouds form?

1. Evaporation - water changes from liquid to gas **It evaporates into thin air!**

- Liquid water from the ocean, rivers, lakes, and even puddles turned into water vapor.

How do clouds form?

2. Condensation - water changes from gas to liquid ***Water vapor (thin air) rises up and cools ----> forms clouds!*** HINT: Condensation forms clouds the same way as the water near the top of our bag formed

What is the water cycle?

*Water Cycle - path of water that moves on, above, and below Earth's surface 1. Sun heats the water and causes it to evaporate 2. Water vapor condenses and forms clouds 3. Water falls back down to Earth

**Precipitation - water falls to Earth as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.

-After water falls (Precipitation), water flows, or runs off into lakes, rivers, and oceans. >It can also soak into the ground and become groundwater.

Water Cycle 1. EVAPORATION - Groundwater or other bodies of water is heated by the Sun and evaporates to become water vapor (gas)
2. CONDENSATION - water vapor cools and become liquid water drops and forms clouds 3. PRECIPITATION - clouds become full of water and the water falls to Earth as rain, snow, sleet, or hail. 4. Water flows over Earth's surface into lakes, rivers, and oceans or as groundwater.
