Student Film Association Strategic Plan Background BYUs Student Film Association is a BYUSA club and acts as a student council (similar to BYUSA) for the students in the media arts program. The SFA guides students in the TMA (Theatre and Media Arts) department to a better experience in their education by acting as a liaison between the students and the faculty to communicate what each side desires of the other. Situation Analysis This new year brings new leadership to the SFA. This year, the SFA hopes to focus on providing a council that gets involved with the students on a more personal basis and creates opportunities to network and display the accomplishments of the students. The club will continue to work with the TMA department faculty to create a synergistic environment between the students and faculty. The SFA hopes to build relationships among the students in the TMA department, and other artistic majors at BYU, to foster creativity and future career relationships. The challenge the SFA may see is a low response from students. They could implement many tactics, but there is no way for the opportunities to be met without the involvement of the students. Similarly, if the faculty does not show support for the club, they lose influential advocates. Core problem/Opportunities Because the SFA provides communication, learning and networking opportunities for media arts students, the students and faculty must be willing to support or attend SFA functions in order to improve career opportunities as well as the reputation of the media arts department. Goal Increase the amount of TMA department students that attend and support the SFA club events in order to supplement their future careers and continue to improve the departments good reputation. Objectives 1. To increase the percentage of students who attend regular SFA events by 25% by the end of winter semester (April 2013). 2. To increase the number of events hosted by the SFA by 45% by the end of winter semester (April 2013). 3. To increase participation in the annual Final Cut Film Festival by 30% by April 11, 2013.
