    Meghalaya: literally meaning the dwelling of clouds. One of the eight states that comprise the north eastern part of Capital : Shillong. Official languages spoken : English,Khasi , Garo . Meghalaya attained statehood on 21st Jan ,1972. Area : 22,429 sq.km. Population (as per 2011 census) : 2,964,007. Density of Population : 130 sq.km.
