    Homework # 1 Due Tuesday, September 6, 2011.
    Read pages 1-22 from Papamarcou before starting this homework. 1. Problem 1.10 from Stark and Woods. 2. Problem 1.13 from Stark and Woods. 3. Show that if a collection F of subsets of is closed under complementation and countable unions, it is also closed under countable intersections. 4. Let = (0, 1], and enumerate the elements of (G ), the -eld generated by the 1 1 collection of subsets G = ( 3 , 2 ], ( 1 , 1] . 2 5. Show that the properties P1, P2, P5 and P9 from Papamarcou togther imply the properties P1, P2 and P3 used to dene a probability space. Start reading (the rest of) Chapter 1 from Stark and Woods after nishing this homework.
