You are one of the organizers of a film festival called representing gender in film Delivera five minutes presentation

to your class imagining they are the panel who will decide whether or not certain feature films will be included in the festival. Show a tow minute segment from a feature film of your choice and speak for three minutes, aiming to persuade the audience of the merits of the film in representing gender issues. IN your presentation you should high light relevant gender issues and the techniques the composer has used to make these clear. You could discuss 1. Visual elements: the images, camera angles< composition of shots, editing, colour, lighting, focus, blocking etc. 2. Sound track: musical score, sound effects etc 3. Verbal cues: dialogue, word choice, voice over song lyrics etc YOU CANNOT CHOOSE AN EXTRACT FROM A FLIM THAT HAS BEEN STUDIED IN CLASS,YOU MUST GET PERMISSION FROM YOUR TEACHER IF YOU WANT TO SHOW A SEGMENT FROM A FLIM THAT DOES NOT HAVE A PG RATING. In your answer you will assessed on how well you: 1. Demonstrate a perceptive understanding of how the chosen extract provides a representation of gender 2. Select, use describe and explain how different techniques affect and shape meaning in visual texts 3. Use appropriate language and structure to describe and explain the effects of techniques on the meaning of visual texts 4. Present ideas coherently in an oral presentation Students who speak for less than 2 and half minutes or more than 3 and half minutes will not be able to gain a result in the top band. Speeches will be stopped at 3 and half minutes.
