Speaking Dementia If you won't relate with your person with dementia, there's not much you can

offer. If you can't relate, be honest with yourself. Are you scared this is your own future? That's very normal. Do you think they're degraded because they can't function as they used to? Can you instead see them as injured, which they are. Dementia injures people. That's all. They're not pathetic, awful, pitiful or degraded. They're injured in their functioning ability. So find a way to see what remains whole within them. Hint: think heart, soul, spirit, appetite,pleasure, joy, sorrow, laughter and fun.
