History Absolutism vs.

Constitutionalism Essay

Jamir Muoz Form III G Band 2/5/2013

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase: the reign of an absolutist monarch. For some reason society and its norms have put this simple phrase. And they may be right to do so. In our current day and age, a democracy is easily the most effective form of government. However, in the 16th, 17th, and 18th century, it was a completely different story. For a government to qualify as an absolutist government, there must be one sole ruler, who derived his power from God. In the 16th through 18th century, absolutism was a more effective, and therefore better form of government than democracy, simply because people were not ready, educated, or exposed enough to try anything other than absolutism.
