Stem Since the Bougainvilla has a woody stem, transverse section of young stem were made to help reveal the

anatomical characteristics of Bougainvilla. Starting with the multicellular outgrowth of trichomes on the epidermal layer. Just beneath the single layered epidermis is the cortex followed by Phloem and the ring of fibers which all enclosing the pith with small vascular bundles. Having a closer look on the vascular bundles, fibers are revealed which surrounds the vasculature and the latter comprised of phloem and vessel elements or tracheary elements of the xylem. In the cross section, collenchyma cells lies immediately below the epidermis; and they are angular collenchyma. Leaf Leaves of bougainvilla display alternate phyllotaxy with an ovate shape and undulate leaf margin. Transverse section of leaves were prepared to reveal characteristics of the Bougainvilla leaf. The midvein which is comprised of xylem and phloem Spines The spines of Bougainvilla are green when young and woody when mature. Also, these are very hard and very solid structures of the plant. Transverse section of spines reveals a very thick periderm which make them very hard and a layer of fibers just beneath it. Sclerified parenchyma are also revealed beneath the layer of fibers. And vascular bundles are in the inner most part of the section. Roots
