HAVE YOU SEEN ME?

By: Kerri-Ann Leon Sing

A poem about self concept & identity.

Have you seen me? A nameless, faceless soul swimming in eternity Tossed upon lifes violent waters indiscriminately In search of my identity. Have you seen me? Like a modern day Don Quixote In search of an elusive beauty Only this journey is done internally With no map to aid in this discovery of rationality. Have you seen me? Fastening my gaze outwardly Towards the heavens and the creator of eternity Seeking answers unequivocally Tied up in its perplexity. Have you seen me? Might I be found in society? Amongst family, friends and community? Do they hold the key to unlocking my identity? I wait expectantly. Mystified by its singularity The answer dawning brilliantly To that question of mystery. Have you seen me? As I stand before you physically This search for identity Has yielded me wealth beyond imagery. For you see, Physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually All these things are me. And now I end my journey of discovery. I have found me.
