    Evidence of your identity Evidence of knowledge of English and of life in the UK or of exemption from knowledge of English and life in the UK

    Applications on the basis of residence in the United Kingdom


    Evidence of lawful residence during qualifying period Evidence that you are free from immigration time restrictions

    European Economic Area and Swiss nationals


    Evidence of your nationality Evidence of exercising treaty rights for five years Evidence as required that you are: self-employed; a student; self-sufficient; retired; or unable to work due to ill health

    Applications on the basis of marriage or civil partnership to a British citizen


    Evidence of marriage or civil partnership

    Applications on the basis of crown service or marriage to a British citizen in crown or designated service
