Public Crime Bulletin Vehicle Break-ins at Parks


Activity Summary: Since August 8, 2013, there have been 4 reported Vehicle B&Es at North Meck Park located at 16131 Old Statesville Rd and 1 reported Vehicle B&E at the Huntersville Athletic Park located at 11720 Verhoeff Dr. Four of the five incidents involved forced entry. All five vehicles targeted had a purse or wallet left in plain view inside the vehicles.

Recommendations for Crime Prevention: -Do not leave purses, wallets, backpacks or electronics inside unattended vehicles. Take all valuables with you when you leave your car. -Keep unattended vehicles secured with doors locked and windows closed. -If your vehicle has been broken into, whether by forcible entry or non-forcible entry, immediately report it to the police by calling 911. -Immediately call 911 to report any suspicious persons you see walking around parked cars or looking into car windows.
