IV. Worked exersice

I. Circular motion

How do we define circular motion ?

Circular motion is defined as motion of the body in circular path

You have already learn about Uniform straight line motion. How do we define it ?
Similarly, who can define Uniform circular motion ? - Circular motion is defined as motion of the body in circular path, at constant speed

II. Angular displacement

AOB : is called Angular displacement

How relationship beetween s and

s r.

III. Angular velocity, period, frequency 1. Angular velocity ()

: (rad) t : (s)
SI unit of

is rad/s

2. Period (T)

Period is defined as the time taken one complete revolution

T have unit is (s)

3. Frequency (f)

Frequency is defined as the number of complete revolution per second

1 f T
f have unit is (Hz)

Worked Examples A ball travels in circular motion with radius 2 (m). In 2 second, a ball travelled 5 revolution. a)Find period of ball b)Find speed

Solution

a)

time taken 2 T 0,4(s) the number of revolution 5

b)

periphery of a circle 2r v period T

2.3,14.2 v 31,4(m / s) 0,4

Consider a particle moving from Point A to point B along an arc length s and radius r

We know that the time taken the earth moving around the sum is a year The other example is the time taken the earth moving around itself is a 24 hour.

In these case the time travelled is call period. How can you understand the period ?
