Washington,D.C.ThisLaborDay,wearecelebratingsomevictoriesandlookingaheadtobig challenges.Weknowthattimesaretoughandbargainingcanbebrutal.Butwereencouraged,because werearmedwithastrategythatenablesustobuildourpowerbybuildingamovementofalliescivil rightsactivists,labor,greens,communityorganizers,peopleoffaith,immigrantrightsgroups,theLGBT communityandotherswhoshareourvisionofsocialandeconomicjustice. Weknowthatwecantreachourgoalsofsecurejobsandbargainingrightsonourown.Noonegroup cangoitalone.TheU.S.ChamberofCommerceanditsalliesaretooentrenched,toowealthy,tooable toexertpressureandcontroloverourdemocracy.Butbyworkingtogether,likemindedpeopleare bringingaboutrealchange. ThatswhyNationalPeoplesActionsSunflowerCommunitypartnerswithourlocalandTMobile activistsinWichita,Kansas,tohelpwinworkersrightsandrealimmigrationreform.ThatswhyCWA localsinNorthCarolinaarejoiningthemoralMondaydemonstrationsagainstthatstatesassaulton votingrights.ThatswhyCWAmembersareworkingwiththeSierraClub,CitizensTradeCampaignand JobswithJusticeactiviststostoptheTransPacificPartnershipthatsabaddealforworkers,consumers andtheenvironment.That'swhyCWAactivistshaveteamedupwithfaithleaderstosupportfastfood workers'strikesforfairwagesinSt.Louisandothercities.Anditswhy2,000CWAersjoinedthecrowd atthe50thanniversaryMarchonWashingtonforJobsandFreedom,toremindournationthatthe Americandreamisnotareality.
