PRAYER FOR THE FEAR OF GOD

TEXT: HEB 4:1

INTRODUCTION
Fear is emotion aroused by an unfamiliar, sudden, or threatening situation and usually
accompanied by a desire or attempt to escape the dangers or threat.
Types of fear include panic, anxiety and phobias.
- Panic is a sudden overwhelming fright, often groundless, that causes persons to throw
reasons to the winds and frantically flee from the peril, real or imaginary.
- Anxiety is a vague fear that results from frustration or from the threat of frustration.
Severe chronic anxiety may cause or aggravate physical illness.
- A phobia is an unreasonable and uncontrollable fear of a particular object or situation. It
is considered irrational because the dread is more intense than is justified by the cause.
In contrast, the fear of God is a healthy one, positive, purposeful, deliberate, and
it is rewarded.
The Fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom!
PRAYING FROM THE SCRIPTURE
- You must fear the lord your God and serve him. When you take an oath, you must use
only his name. Deut: 6:13
- Serve only the lord your God and fear him alone obey his commands, listen to his voice,
and cling to him. Deut 13:4
- The God of Israel spoke. The Rock of Israel said to me: The one who rules righteously,
who rules in the fear of God is like the Light of Morning at sunrise, like a morning
without clouds, like the gleaming of the sun on new grass after rain. 2Sam 23:3
- Uzziah sought God during the days of Zechariah, who taught him to fear God. And as
long as the king sought guidance from the lord, God gave him success. 2Chr 26:5
- In my desperation and prayer, and the lord listened, he saved me from all my troubles.
For the angel of the lord is a guard, he surrounds and defends all who fear him. Ps 34:6-7
- For you have heard my vows, O God you have given me an inheritance reserved for those
who fear your name. Ps 61: 5
- But the love of the lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to
the children’s children. Ps 103: 17
- How joyful are those who fear the lord, all who follow his ways! Ps 128: 1
- But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in his
wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. On the day
when I act, you will tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet”, say the
Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Matt: 4: 2-3
- Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last, but a woman who ears the lord will be
greatly praised. Prov: 31: 30
