PREFACE

As Indian Railways is a public organization employing a very large workforce and also servicing the huge Indian population, through my study I wanted to know how The Indian Railways manage in co-ordinating its various activities ensuring quality service to the customers and also taking care of the different needs and requirements of its large workforce. The project gives an insight into the History and current scenario of Indian railways and also tries to highlight and bring into focus all the information about the various Human Resources Policies in regard to Recruitment, Salaries & wages administration, corporate strategy, technology, infrastructure, safety training, promotion, inspection and supervision, HRD, staff welfare, health services provided by railway and so on.
