Lawson World History 3 October 2010 Ayodhya Verdict The article, Ayodyha Verdict: Indian Holy Site 'to be Divided' written by an unknown author, writes about the very controversial verdict that was passed recently about the splitting of a very religious site in India. The Hindus consider this to be the birthplace of their deity, Ram, and the Muslims had built a mosque on this site, destroying the previously present Hindu temples. This decades old issue was finally coming to a close, and the verdict was given. Onethird was given to the Hindus, one-third to the Muslims, and one-third to Nirmohi Akhara, a Hindu sect. The disputed land, where Ram is said to have been born, was given to the Hindus. However, both Hindu and Muslim lawyers are going to appeal the verdict. This will create a delay of the final decision. Government officials are telling the people to stay calm and stay away from violence.

I think that this verdict is good because it has split up the land equally, giving one third to the three parties. However, I am not sure why the Nirmohi Akhara came into picture. This might create some enmity against that certain sect. I feel that if people are not happy with this verdict, then religious tensions are going to escalate, which could cause major violence in the future. I don't feel that the US should get involved since it could create hate against the US for meddling in their religious affairs. There are already high tensions between religions, and if the US tries to interfere in religious affairs, then bad feelings will erupt against them.
