The Country of Honor mechanism was introduced during the 4th CAEXPO in 2007. For each CAEXPO, an ASEAN country acts as the CAEXPO Country of Honor, whose state leader is invited to the event with his/her delegation, to ensure that each CAEXPO will have the attendance of ASEAN state leaders, thus to maintain CAEXPOs influence in political and diplomatic arenas.
