Room 204 Update June 2, 2013 Spring Street School Mrs.

Liportos class

General Information Thursday was a beautiful day for Sing and Swing! It was a fantastic afternoon of music and dancing. I was very impressed with the weaving that the students made with their maypole dance. A big thank you goes out to Mrs. LeBoeuf for all her hard work on this great event! This week our class brought over 800 Boxtops down to the office. Thank you for your continued support of our effort to raise money for the school. Our classroom has collected over 2000 Boxtops so far this year! On Friday I emailed everyone the information about the Summer Reading that is required for Sherwood Middle School. This is the last week that our class will be morning greeters for the year. Thank you to ALL students that have helped people at Spring Street School feel welcomed in the morning all year long. A special thank you goes out to Colby Meyer and Annalise Monopoli who were our Greeter Leaders this year. They did a great job at keeping our class organized during our greeting weeks. This weeks greeters are:

Students should be ready at the front door to being greeting at 8:30am on their assigned day. If you student can not make it on that day, please let me know. Helen Lim 2/15/13 Amar Kapoor 3/8/13 Annalise Monopoli 5/31/13 Writing/Language Arts The students will be working on their news articles about various events that took place this year. They will use the personal narrative format that they have learned to help write an interesting account of their topic. Articles will need to be typed and emailed to me once they are done because I will be putting these together in a class newspaper. They will have some time to do this in class, but most students have said they would like to do this at home. Please let me know if this is a problem. Math This week the students will be reviewing and working on their end of year EDM assessments. This comprehensive assessment will review the main topics that we studied this year. This assessment will most likely take two math periods to complete and will be passed along to the fifth grade teachers. We will no longer have Math Club on Wednesday mornings. If your student has any specific concerns, please let me know. EVERYDAY MATH FAMILY LETTERS on-line address:

Yes, this information will probably be on Jeopardy soon! Science The electricity and magnetism assessment will be on Tuesday, June 4th. The study guides should have come home with your student last week, but in the event that it was misplaced, it can be found on the classroom blog. On Thursday we will begin the last session of Science Court for the year. This is the case of the ping-pong trophy theft.
