Amazon is a department of Peru located on the north.

It borders the departments of Cajamarca to the west, La Libertad and San Martn in the south, with Loreto on the east and north by the Republic of Ecuador. It covers 39 200 km of rugged territory, mostly covered by the Amazon, with some higher areas to the south, where is located the capital, Chachapoyas. It is located in the northeast of the country, owns part of mountain and forest. Bordered on the north by Ecuador, on the east with Loreto, San Martin to the southeast, on the south with La Libertad, Cajamarca and west. The relief is formed by the Andean Cordillera del Condor call. Its surface of 39,241 km , is similar to that of Switzerland. Its coordinates are 2 59 'south latitude and between meridians are 77 9' and 78 42 'west longitude.Its population amounts to 375,993 inhabitants, of whom 203,158 are men and 195,424 women.
