Candidate Overview 1. Why should young people in NYC vote for you instead of the other candidates?

My 24 years of working in NYCs diverse communities include much work with youth, in fact I became known as the one community leader in Bensonhurst who could reach many of the young people causing trouble in the neighborhood (this resulted in recognition from the Police Department and community organizations). 2. How would you distinguish your future administration from the present one run by Mayor Bloomberg? Having worked with the residents of many of New York City's unique communities has provided me with the understanding of the challenges New Yorkers face as they lead their daily lives in this complex City. This gives me the ability to truly be the Mayor of all the people, representing the residents of every NYC community including those who have been ignored for too long. Personal Questions 1. Do you rent or own your home? Will you move to Gracie Mansion if you win? I rent a home on Staten Island and would move into Gracie Mansion. 2. Do you have a pet? I have a dog Geny. 3. If you have children, do/did they attend public schools? I have six children and they don't/didn't attend public schools. 4. Have you ever been the victim of a crime? Yes. Safety 1. What changes would you like to see in the NYPD's stop and frisk policies? Police officers should not be stopping individuals based on demographics. Decisions on whom to approach should be based on true suspicious behavior. A police officer patrolling a neighborhood must understand and take into account the demographics and subdemographics of the community to properly classify behavior as suspicious. Needless to say, all stop and frisk quotas will be eliminated. 2. Would you replace Ray Kelly as police commissioner? I will consider Commissioner Kelly, but will conduct a thorough national search for candidates before a final decision is made. 3. Do you support the decriminalization or legalization of marijuana in New York City? No. 4. Do you support an independent inspector general for the NYPD? No.

5. Would you change the way the NYPD handles protests in the city, including the present "free speech zones"? I am in favor of free speech zones when police commanders deem them necessary to assure public safety. 6. Do you favor an increase in funding for the Accident Investigation Squad, and directing AIS to investigate all accidents which include a serious injury (rather than just deaths)? I believe that the AIS must be adequately funded and that its officers should investigate all accidents that involved fatalities, serious injuries or suspicion of criminal activity. The officers should be documenting the facts of the accident as to whether there was criminal activity, as well as the safety issues involved with an eye to improving safety at the accident location. 7. Should people be allowed to drink alcohol on their own stoops? What about in public parks? Yes people should be permitted to drink alcohol on their stoops, but not in public parks. Transportation, Bikes and Bike Lanes 1. How often do you ride a bike? Not often. 2. How will you change Mayor Bloomberg's bike lane policy? My administration will work with each community individually to determine whether they want the bike lanes that are situated within their borders. Unwanted bike lanes will be removed. 3. How often do you ride NYC subways and buses? My current campaign schedule doesn't allow me to ride the subway as often as I used to. 4. Should livery cabs be allowed to pick up street hails in the outer boroughs? Yes, I believe that livery cabs should be allowed to pick up street hails in the outer boroughs, as well as in upper Manhattan. I support the current plan to create a new medallion for this purpose. 5. Do you support congestion pricing? No 6. Should the new Staten Island ferries be required to have outdoor decks? The Ferry is Staten Island's only direct connection with Manhattan. It is an important icon of New York City and millions of tourists have enjoyed voyages on it and it still is a magnet for tourists and a conduit bringing them to Staten Island. An outdoor deck would provide an enhanced ride and would be an option to be considered depending on the fiscal realities of the City at the time of purchase. 7. Do you favor adding platform gates on New York City subways? There were 274 traffic deaths in NYC in 2012, compared to 55 subway fall fatalities (including 19 suicides). New Yorkers would be better served by investing the funding (estimated to be $1 billion) in improved traffic safety measures.

Health 1. Will you change or repeal any of the following Bloomberg administration policies? a) Salt ban Repeal b) Soda size limits Repeal c) Smoking in public parks Leave alone d) Restaurant letter grades I would repeal them e) Styrofoam ban If it is implemented, I would work to repeal it. Disaster Preparedness 1. Should residents be allowed to rebuild their homes in flood-prone areas like The Rockaways? Yes 2. What specific measures should the City take to prevent widespread destruction from Sandylevel storms? Zoning regulations must be amended to take into consideration the appropriate safety measures required to provide structures in flood zones with as much protection as possible. We must encourage the private sector, when building along our shores, to construct structures that can withstand future super storms by offering developers tax incentives on the condition that they also make 30% of their units affordable housing for Sandy victims. Development 1. Do you support a ban or limit on chain stores in New York City? No 2. Do you support Wal-Mart building stores in the City? Yes 3. Do you support NYCHA's recently announced plans to build market rate apartments on public housing parking lots and playgrounds? No

3. Do you support tax breaks to keep corporations in NYC? What about for movies being filmed in NYC? NYC should provide tax breaks to keep corporations here, as well as for movies being filmed in the City, as long as the production companies show consideration for the community. 5. Do you support the "public-private" model of park development used under the Bloomberg administration? We should not privatize any City department or part thereof unless there is clear, irrefutable evidence that the benefits to the public far outweigh the turnover of control of the municipal responsibility.

5. How would you modify the Bloomberg administration's waterfront development policy? The potential for another super storm is unfortunately all too real; therefore my shore development and redevelopment policies would all require consideration of meeting the demands of another serious storm. A formula will have to be created to figure in the needed protections, costs, practicality of the remediation and impact on the surroundings, before any further work or permits for work move forward.

Education 1. How can the city reduce the number of teachers in "rubber rooms"? I would immediately instruct my Chancellor to expedite the hearing process so that bad teachers may, more expeditiously, be removed from the system entirely. 2. Would you continue to allow schools to distribute "morning after pills" without parental consent? No 3. How would you change the present administration's Charter School policies? I understand the importance of providing parents/guardians with the option of charter schools and will work to increase the number permitted in the City. However, I will not allow a charter school to be located in any school without the agreement of the public school's parents/guardians. Miscellaneous 1. Do you support or oppose term limits for NYC politicians? I support them. 2. Should short-term vacation rental services like AirBnB be legalized in New York City? Tourism is a major source of revenue for New York City and must be encouraged and supported. Such services as AirBnB serve to attract additional tourists; however, the City must carefully consider such factors including safety and impact on the community, especially the neighbors. Therefore, additional oversight legislative or regulatory is likely required.
