In 1983 SCL Ltd. set up a Second unit at KADI for the production of ceramic glazed was tiles with and installed capacity of 6000tpa with financial help from ICICI & GIIC BANK. An achievement that is not surprising in the face of our raising turnover from Rs. 136 Crore in 1998-99 to Rs. 175 Crore in 1999-2000. SCL Ltd. Is First Company in India which are honored with both the prestigious ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 certifications for its manufacturing set up. To Day two plants an installed capacity of 36000 sq. the aggregate production capacity of that plant is 6.00 million square meter. SCL reaches our to millions through a formidable rut work of nationwide dealers in India abroad. The year 1990 saw a new floor tile plant at kassar. In 1996 the R&D department of SOMANY CERAMIC got government re cognition. This was a great ac divalent considering that SOMANY CERAMIC ltd. was the first in tile in the industry to achieve this. Considering the ever-growing demand of SOMANY CERAMIC limited tiles in south and west region, a second unit of SOMANY CERAMIC limited was set up in Gujarat in 1981. SOMANY CERAMIC limited, original SOMANY CERAMICS LIMITED, was started by sheer hire somany (founder and c Harman) on20th January 1968. The name of the said company changed somany ceramics limited on 13th October 1995. In 1971, first unit of somany ceramic limited was established of kassar, hariyana, in technical collaboration with Pilkingtons tile holdings. UK. In 1998, SOMANY CERAMIC limited got ISO 9002 certification for its manufacturing facilities. 1999 witnessed a huge demand for vitrified tiles in the Indian market and the company decided to put up a new lent to cater to it.

Somany is a leading manufacturing of wall & floor tiles. It also imports and markets certain tiles and other related products under the brand name Missoni, Ballesermar etc. but truly speaking , brand somany is not just about quality wall & floor tiles but it is a story of grift, determination and accomplishments. Somany success story started way back in 1936 with a broking venture in kolkata. Later on moving into industrial projects, today group has market leadership in Tiles & sanitary ware. Somany operations in 1968 at kassar in technical collaboration with pilkington tiles of UK. The company changed to present name in11995 is somany ceramic ltd. The second plant at kadi in Gujarat came in to existece 1981 to cater to the needs of western and southern regions.

The company went to achived one after another milestone like: 1. Floor tiles plant at kassar in 1990. 2. R & D department gat Govt. recognition in 1996. 3. First company in the tiles industry to receive ISO 9002 & ISO 14001 for manufacturing facilities in 1998. 4. New floor tiles plant of kadi is 2000 5. Up graded both the plants in 2002

(B) Explanation
There are three types of raw material used in the production process to produce tiles. These raw materials are in form of stone so the first step of the production is crushing in this stage raw materials held send form. These sends are reached at step number two of mixture water & raw materials. In this stage the raw material held liquid form. These are sending of pressing unit to conveyer. There the raw materials are converted into square mold. The next step is drying. This step gives to the mold of tiles. These tiles are put into designing function, these unit design the tile for three times at different roller and colored to the tiles in this unit also, again these tiles are send to furnish for giving temperature, after getting hot the tiles are send to reached to the cooling stage after that these tiles are passing away at shorting unit, in this unit worker check its quality. After these procedure prepared tiles are send to the boxes are send to the ware house as a finish product through contain. The production process of the SPL Ltd is completed in the seven steps, after the seven step completed the final product of floor & wall tiles easily aver this process is very fist in this plant kadi there mordents technological machines we used when the raw material on to in the production process and than production process is completed we get final product the line is about 14 minute only the seven steps of the production process we as under.

STEP 1

In this first step all the also materials we welded in the one wage tank. This tank is very wage, in this tank .this thank is very wage. In this all the raw materials we added on thus weight all the raw material we mixed in the tank. The capacity of the tank is about 1600 ten these raw material we sent in the one huge tank. 100% raw materials is clays, feldspar and quarts while all the raw materials we mixing than 40% water add in the raw materials then this raw materials are store for one day.

After one day the raw material are send in the spray driver in this machine the raw material are heated at 80c temperature. The main the raw materials the are only 5% water being alive. These raw materials are sent in another machine by convener belt. The materials are ready for body preparation of tiles. Thus the first step is completed.

STEP 2
The convener belt through the raw materials enters in the magnum priers. This machine is very huge in this machine the two process are directly done. The machine first converts raw material to the gram tiles means only the model of tiles. The tiles have 50% water so tiles burn at 230.c in machine. The machine is oil pressure unit. Te green tiles grunt part is clear but the bottom part is rough so when the floor and wall tiles are joint on floor and wall tiles are joint on the floor an wall they we easily stick with then. The size of the rough part of tiles is depending on the types of tiles. Then the tiles is drying at 230 c so then the tiles have only 0.5 % in this drying process the machine have gas burner then the tiles are send in other medium by convener butt thus the second step is completed.

The third step is known as application system the all machines are automatic only one operator working on the machine. Till the tiles are heat 50 in the machine absolved 25 gm water spry in each tiles by sparing wager the front paw become lose so easily make design on the tiles in the design section the company use Sucaso Companys color. There we three printing machine until the tiles does not pass three rotor we cannot understand the design in the rotor they use color as demand of the types like.

STEP 4

In this step the quality of the product is chorusing by the computerized machine. The tiles are defined in three categories.

I. Slipper fine II. Fine III. Commercial

These classifications is on the eased of the tiles fault in the quality checking machine one by one checking tile quality only one-operator control all this automatic machine is about 1.5 cores. Then as per classification the tiles are padded in the corrugated box. Then they are sent in the chatting department

STEP 6
This step is known as cutting section all the sides are cuttings by the BMR cutting machine as necessary. This sides cutting because of whence floors walls tiles joint in wall or wall ten two tiles are easily close each other and does not find any space between two tiles.

In this section there are three machine each machines price is about 1 crore. Each machine have two units in one unit left an right sides cut while second unit 10p and bottom sides cut in the cutting one diamond used the prices of the diamond is about 1 crore. Then this cutting tile is sending in padding department by rotor. Thus the step is completed.

STEP 7
This step is known as packing section in tiles section the tiles are packing as their quality the paper and plastic packing in the SPL. The packing is done by machine the machine

automatically pack the tiles on the packing the paper which used it is printed with SPL name and price with others details. Than tiles packs store in the warehousing and they are supply for sell by marketing department. Thus the final product is produce this process is floor tiles plant in the SPL ltd have two plant floor tiles plant and wall tiles plant. Both plants are same but one change in the floor plant in the wall plant they have use mordents technology machine SFF first in this machine the tiles burnt only one time while in floor tiles burnt two times

General shift time of the company: 8:00am to 4:00pm, 4:00 to 12:00pm 12:00pm to 8:00am Sometime company maintain two shift each shift consists 12 hours duty.

In SOMANY CERAMIC limited wages the casual workers is 162/50 per day and armament workers is 450 per day. SOMANY CERAMIC level as per their post, company gives salary.
