CASE STUDY Aim : place student in a stimulated organizational climate either as a manager, leader, or non manager who must

make decision. In the case study the process of arriving at an answer is more important than the answer itself. It is anticipated that by working through cases the student will develop an understanding of the process of reaching decision and be able to convincingly support and communicate these decisions to others within incomplete information and in a limited time period, a real situation face by most manager. There is no ideal solution to any case searching for perfect answer will be futile. What is more important the student should learn to critically and thoroughly think through the issues, problems and other information presented in the case. Critical thinking is require to make better decisions and through thinking is needed so that the decisions reached can be communicated and intelligently discuss in the classroom discussion. One suggested pattern to do case study: 1. Read the case rather quickly to get a feel for what is involved 2. Reread the case and sort out the assumptions, hunches or feeling and facts. Sometime the student will need to make plausible assumptions about situation. List them to support the plausibility of the assumption that will be able to fill the blank in the cases as organization decisions are generally made in incomplete information and some uncertainty. 3. Identify the major problems and sub-problems, which must be considered in the case. 4. List the problems in order of importance or priority. 5. Develop a list of alternatives causes of action that would minimize or eliminate the problems. If possible have at least two fully develop alternatives, which are feasible solution. In developing the alternative courses of action, OUTLINE THE CONSTARAINTS (e.g resources, historical precedent, competition, skill limitation etc) which limit success 6. Select the course of action that is best for problems identified in step 3, show how the course of action would work and be able to discuss

why it would be the most successful alternative to solve the problems.
