Etapa Preliminar: Dia a dia

Obiective: As we transitionfrom the SpanishI bookto the SpanishII bookit is


important that the studentshavea chanceto review all that they havelearnedin the
last book. In this review,it was important to me that studentscouldseethat they
had madesomekind of progresssincethey startedSpanishI andthat they had in
fact developedenoughlanguageskills that they coulduseSpanishreal-lifewith real
live Spanishspeakers.

Week 1

Reviewfrom SpanishI:
. Studentswill makea list of commongreetingsand categorize them by the
countryin which they are mostcommonlyused
. Studentscreateand answersimpleconversationalquestionsthat they draw
from a hat.
. Conjugationwill be reviewedwith the "conjugationback"and "cry me a verb"
videos.
. Subjectpronouns,verb endings,stem-changing andverbswith irregular-yo
formswill be revisitedthroughstudentteachingoneanotherusinga list of
verbs and chart that coincidewith a boardgame.
. A boardgamethat asksstudentsto conjugateseveralverbs to practice
conjugationofverbsin the presenttense.
. Conjugation will alsobe practicedusinga "Getyour conjugationon" sheet
that callsfor studentsto conjugateasmanyverbs asthey canin one minute.
This activity is basedoff anotheractivity that we usewith numberscalleda
mad-minute.
. Tellingtime is alsorevisitedby note taking and "What time is it Mr. Fox?"
. Investigationactivity:studentscirclethe room and stop at differentposts.
Eachposthassomekind of scenesetup. Someof thesescenesinclude:two
stuffedanimalstalkingon the phone,a hospitalfmadeout of a shoebox)
with a miniatureturtle and bear goinginsideand a teddy bearwith an official
NSYNCfan book. Studentswill fill out a worksheetthat follows alongwith
eachstationand asksthem 5 questionsabouteachusing5 ofthe different
questionwords and focusingon differentgrammaticalconstructionsfrom
the previousbook. Studentsmust alsoreport what time they arrived at each
post and write 5 of their own questionsaboutwhat is goingon at each
. Preparea list of questionsto aska nativespeakerfor the unit project
