In 2007, Art Donovan embarked upon a bold new style. Wildly popular on the internet but unheard of in the world of design, the style is called, Steampunk. The following illuminated sculptures are today known throughout the world as examples of the most ambitious Steampunk creations rendered in this genre. Some pieces are one of a kind- never, to be repeated or duplicated. Others may be

produced, to order, in an extremely limited edition.

In October of 2009, Art Donovan curated the worlds first museum exhibition of steampunk design for the Museum of the History of Science at the University of Oxford, UK. The entire collection of his steampunk designs below were featured at this premiere exhibition. La Luna" If Galileo had electricity, I would like to believe he'd have two of these in his observatory." Art Donovan. When I was lecturing at the Oxford University Museum of the History of Science, I couldn't help but absorb the influence of antiquity. This collection of one of kind designs is the result, but we feel that 'La Luna' would be truly miraculous in a thoroughly modern setting. This pair of hand made, one-of-a-kind wall lamps feature hand painted lampshades that glow in natural tones of a full moon at rising. The posts are solid bronze and cast acrylic with the overall height of the lamps being 33". The lamp shade is 13" in diameter and 5" deep with the sides of the shade painted in what we call, "Museum Blue" (textured, translucent tones of burnt umber and phthalo blue). Each of the two lamp are mirror images of each other. Signed and Dated by Art Donovan. $7600. (Pair)

Oxford Station Steampunk Wall Lamp Entirely hand crafted of solid mahogany, solid brass and hand-blown glass. Finish shown in a muted antique brass- similar to a light antique bronze. 26" tall x 12" wide (at lampshades widest dim.) and 16" deep. Shown with Edison reproduction filament bulb (included). Captain Nemo had a massive personal library onboard his vessel, The Nautilus. Among his extensive collection of rare Persian manuscripts, antique navigational charts, and volumes of ancient Greek and Roman literature, Nemo also possessed rare specimens of the natural world that predated Sir Charles Darwin. What the good Captain didnt possess was a proper reading lamp. Hence, submitted for your approval: The Ferryman reading + research lamp. A must for perusing ancient tomes and cataloging unique new species of critters. This device features two main lamps in the front. On the left: a high intensity incandescent bulb. On the right: an ultra violet LED bulb. The combination of these two bulbs provides accurate colour rendition. The UV lamp is also quite useful when viewing natural specimens that need to fluoresce. The Book Rest tilts back to 50B, 32B and 25B and features an 8.5" x 11" 2X Sheet Magnifier. All components are fully adjustable. Projecting from the back is an Assistant Researcher Lamp that also holds a 5" diameter, 2.5x, hand-held magnifying lens. Black and antique brass . Solid Brass and Mahogany, 32" tall.
